New day, new chapter.
I have a new mantra for this year, "Let it go and make it so!" In order to find inner peace, I have to learn to let go of absolute control. To learn that sometimes there is no choice but to ride out the 70 foot wave. That there is no reason to be concerned with or try to understand another person's motivation except for my own. I find people to be a curious lot. Predictable in nature but with the capability to surprise, if they chose too.
And this is why we fail to complete New Year's Resolutions. Predictability. We set our goals so high that they are unattainable instead of breaking them down into steps. Then there is the fact that we set too many goals. Or that we get discouraged when we give in to temptation.
Here is the thing. Look at your resolutions or dreams list. Really take a good look at it. What do they involve? You making yourself better. Whether it is kinder, thinner, or happier, it is the things that you think will make you happy.
I want you to write another list. This is a list of the things that make you happy, right now. Not from the past or in the future. What makes you happy now. I will start with one.

- Putting myself first. This all I need for right now. I have been eating Dad's home cooking and living on what is left in my house. With as much housework and moving as I have been doing and only needing to feed myself, I can watch what I eat and enjoy it.
- Greater self-awareness. I have been working on this since the end of the year and have discovered a lot of new things about myself and the way I view people around me.
- To heck with what others think. During this self-awareness retreat, I am beginning to see that what other people think of me is really not my concern. I am also finding that I should not be asking for their opinion on my problems. I used to rely on my gut. Time to get in touch with my instincts again because they used to be sharper than a knife.
- Work hard and play just as hard. Really want to work on a good life balance. I may only have a drop of Native American blood but the most important idea behind that culture is balance and being centered. Working on that.
If you noticed, there is nothing on here about eating right, exercising, going to the salon more often, etc., because these things are all outward. If you work from the inside first then the outside will come along for the ride. Having a great looking face and body is nice but if it is not covering the most important part, your soul, then what do you have?
So, yes, the new chapter of my life is only beginning. Looking forward to it. Bumps, bruises, triumphs, and laughter. As long as I have laughter and friends, my soul will be just fine.
